Queen’s Canopy – last chance for donations and dedications

Quite a significant number of Parishioners have already indicated that they would like to either contribute or contribute and dedicate either a tree or a bench in memory of a loved one.

Rather than have individual plaques positioned adjacent to trees which will be difficult to maintain and problematical for the ground staff, we have decided that we will establish a commemorative oak board similar in design to the attached sketch on which individual plaques can be fitted. The final size of the board will be determined by the number of responses received.  To ensure consistency we have discussed this with CI Engravers and settled on a standard bronze plaque measuring 15cm x 6cm (aprox 6” x 2¼”) with white lettering which will be pre-drilled for fixing.

There will also be seven benches arranged in an octagon shape (eight sides with one gap for access) these will not be traditional benches as they would not be appropriate in a woodland setting. They will be constructed from timber sleepers which have a 25 year guarantee and a similar example can be seen around the Parish Petanque terrain and a photograph is attached. There is an opportunity to fix commemorative plaques to the front face of the benches.

The cost of the plaque which should be purchased direct from CI Engravers in St Peter’s Valley is approximately £80 plus GST. When you provide them with the inscription you require please make sure to mention that it is for the Trinity Queen’s Canopy Project and they will then know exactly the size required; all you need to do is provide the wording to be inscripted on the plaque.

As the project has created a significant interest, we have decided that an appropriate contribution to the costs would be a minimum donation of £100 to place a plaque on a bench and a minimum donation of £50 to place a plaque on the board for trees.

If you are interested in either contributing or contributing and doing a dedication to a loved one, then please (1) complete the form and return it to the Office, (2) together with a cheque, or send your donation to the Parish by BACS, and (3) if appropriate, order your plaque from CI Engravers.
