The Trinity Community Support Team (‘TCST’) was set up in 2015 by Deputy Anne Pryke. In 2020, the Rector, Reverend Geoff Houghton and the Connetable, Philip Le Sueur re-formed the support team to respond to the emerging needs of vulnerable parishioners during the lockdown resulting from the Covid 19 epidemic.
We currently have a team of approximately 12 volunteers. At present there are four phone holders – Jane, Margaret, Mary and Sue, who receive the phone requests and contact the volunteers.
The aims of the TCST are to:
- Assist elderly / vulnerable parishioners in practical ways, such as shopping, collection and delivery of prescriptions, small DIY tasks such as changing a light bulb
- Transport to medical appointments, e.g. Doctors, Hospital, Dentist etc.
- To link with or help refer to other services such as Call and Check, Meals on Wheels, 3 in 1 Club etc
- To provide friendly social contact to those who live alone
Self-referrals, or referrals from family or friends are made by calling the TCST mobile phone line on 07797 741285. The phone holders assist in making contact with volunteers, aiming to respond to calls within a few days.
In order to comply with Health and Safety, Data Protection and Insurance requirements we require that
- Volunteers have a DBS check (paid for by the Parish)
- They carry and show Parish of Trinity ID cards
- All contacts are recorded and any problems noted.
