Parish’s Procession and Platinum Picnic in the Paddock
Saturday 4th June 2022
The Parish’s Platinum Jubilee Committee has been hard at work creating an afternoon for us that not only celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee but also has something to offer every Parishioner of every age, and their friends and families.
Given the Queen’s love of horses and horse-racing, the Glebe Field behind the Parish Hall is being rechristened the Paddock for the day. The event will kick off with a Procession from the Parish Primary School to the Paddock. In addition to having a picnic, there are going to be activities, competitions and VIP visitors during the course of the afternoon. There will also be an unveiling ceremony in the Queen’s Canopy. The Committee has also organised several competitions in the run up to the event, which will be judged on the day – a family treasure hunt, decorating a horseshoe, creating a Crown and/or a cake fit for a Queen, and creating a Ladies’ Day hat. Add in live music, liquid refreshments to suit everyone’s palate, and ice-cream and you have a bit of an idea of what the afternoon holds for you!
Everyone is welcome and everyone can do as much or as little as they want; as long as you are enjoying yourself along with everyone else, that’s all that matters.
