Parish Service At Dielement in remembrance of Second-Lieutenant Bernard Scheidhauer

Second-Lieutenant Scheidhauer crash landed his Spitfire in Jersey after it was damaged by enemy fire during a reconnaissance mission over Normandy. Captured by the occupying forces, he was part of a group of Allied prisoners who managed to escape from a POW camp, inspiring the 1963 film, The Great Escape.
